Alia’s character Vaidahi is strong, fierce and almost every girl resonated with it. The film crossed the 100-crore mark and made Rs. 114.24 crores total at the box-office front.
Lipstick Under My Burkha:
The film created a revolution of sorts as the censor board did not pass this film for being too bold. But, finally, the makers won the battle and the film saw the light of the day in India. However, the irony is, the movie had already been released, lauded and won several awards in international film festivals during the film when it was being banned in India. It is about four women and their desires and fantasies.
Naam Shabana:
The action drama starred Taapse Pannu in the lead alongside Akshay Kumar in a cameo role. The film is about a young girl who becomes a part of a special group and is on a secret mission to safeguard the country from a deadly enemy. The film was another powerful performance by Taapsee after Pink.
Secret Superstar:
This film released recently and starred Zaira Wasim in the lead alongside Aamir Khan in a pivotal supporting role. The movie talks about the dreams of a teenage girl who wishes to become a singer. How she fights her family and societal pressure to achieve her dreams forms the crux of the story.
Tumhari Sulu:
The latest release Tumhari Sulu starring Vidya Balan is one gem of a film. Vidya’s #MaiKarSaktiHai attitude is what makes her run through life successfully. The film narrates the tale of a middle-class housewife who has big dreams. She stumbles upon an opportunity to become a late-night RJ and she grabs it rightly.
