Music director duo Salim and Suleiman Merchant recorded a song sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for director Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film ‘Heroine‘ in Dubai. It is confirmed that Rahat was not comfortable coming to India and Salim-Suleiman were keen on recording his voice. Hence they had no option left but to record a song in a neutral venue ‘Dubai’. Salim and Suleiman however didn’t fly themselves and sent a team which looked after the recording of the song.
The song ‘Saaiyan’ was earlier recorded in the voice of Salim. But later they felt that the voice of Salim is not appropriate for the cinema version of the song. They planned to call Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for this song and could manage to convince Director Madhur Bhandarkar about the re-recording of the song. Madhur happily agreed to the decision.
However the Pakistani singing maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan seemed to be hesitant to visit India since his controversial detention at Delhi airport last year. The incident had created much fury across the cinema fraternity. It was since then that Rahat hasn’t visited India. Last year when he was traveling back to his home country after attending few music concerts and award functions in India he was detained at Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly carrying $ 1,40,000 with him. He was later released after the intervention from both the Pakistani and Indian officials.
Heroine will be released on 30 Nov 2012 and is expected to be a milestone in Kareena Kapoor‘s career.
Rahat is such a nice singer. I love to hear all his songs.
