Censor Board members are worried about the comments made by Kanjibhai – a character in the movie Oh My God played by Paresh Rawal, in which he refers to Hindu Gods by some funny remarks. ‘Bade pet wala Ganpati, body builder Hanuman and Tigerwali Maa (Sherawali Maa)’ are those remarks which board members think may provoke the sentiments of common man. On the other hand producers of the movie are adamant that these are not lewd remarks but are the words of praise for the Hindu Gods.
Films director Umesh Shukla arranged a meeting with Censor Board Members and after spending hours with them finally was successful in convincing them of the ‘real’ meaning of the dialogues of the film. “The censors had some reservations about the dialogue. They had preconceived notions that OMG is against religion and Gods, which I feel is because of hearsay and media reports,” said Umesh. He further added that after his full explanation of the meaning of the dialogues the board members seemed to be agreed.
The film is based on the theatrical play of Umesh named Kishan Vs Kanhaiya. Paresh Rawal had acted in the stage play and he is also playing the same lead role in the cinematic version too. Umesh further adds that when we talk about bodybuilders the first name that immediately comes to our mind is of Lord Hanuman and not of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Hence calling Hanuman a bodybuilder is in no way an offensive remark but it is praise for the God.
The film’s story revolves around Mr. Kanjibhai played by Paresh Rawal who is an owner of an antique shop and moves to the court against God. The movie is set to be released on 28 the September. Akshay Kumar is playing a role of Lord Krishna in this movie and has reportedly put in lot of hard work in playing the characters. Sources say that when his mother came to know about his plans to play Lord Krishna on screen, she suggested him to read The Gita first so that he can get some enlightenment from the holy book. We hear that Akshay has followed his mother’s advice and has gone through the holy Gita. What colors his efforts have brought in will be seen on screen on 28 September as fans are eagerly awaiting this comic flick. BollywoodTales team wishes Akshay all the best for this upcoming release.
Update: OMG has performed upto the expectation. With superb acting by paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar and wonderful storyline, the movie has certainly lived upto the expectations of the audiences. It is one of the hit movies of year 2012.
