You have already seen her on small screen. You have seen her licking her fingers with silky delicious Cadbury chocolate seducing you to try it yourself. She is Nimrat Kaur. She is recognized with the name of Cadbury Girl in the industry. Her pleasant appearance in recent Cadbury Dairy Milk-Silk ad has contributed in the success of the brand.
“I was actually asked to tone down the licking and looks in the ad”, says Nimrat.
This charming Cadbury girl has recently knocked the doors of Bollywood with her debut film The Lunchbox where she will be seen appearing opposite Irrfan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Her performance in the film is also widely appreciated by the critics.
In the latest tweet filmmaker Karan Johar mentioned her saying, “Nimrat Kaur is the soul of LUNCHBOX…projecting marital angst…urban depression and longing for love like a legend actor.” This shows the kind of praise she is gaining these days. Out of hundreds of new faces those hit B-town every week very few newcomers are applauded this way. Adding yet another feather to her cap she also gained a terrific introduction at Semaine De La Critique (The International Critics Week) at Cannes this May.
This 31 year old beauty is all but flattered with all this success in her initial stage. “I am flattered by these reactions. I was introduced as the modern day Charulata, Sharmila Tagore and Madhubala”, she said recently.
Her role in the film The Lunchbox is very powerful. The character that she has played has so many colors. She is a frustrated housewife in the film who always try to gain the attention of her husband by giving him tasty and delicious food in the lunchbox. One day however his lunchbox gets mixed up with someone else and when she realizes her mistake wants to give clarification on this to her husband.
She puts an apology note in the lunchbox the next day and vents out all her anger and frustration as a housewife who isn’t payed enough attention and due credit for her sacrifices. However the note reaches to the hands of a perfect stranger and a twist in the story begins.
The story sounds unorthodox and interesting. With the presence of highly talented actors in the movie, it is certain that the film will prove to be a treat to watch for the audiences of off-beat cinema. It will also be interesting to see Nimrat Kaur performing opposite Irrfan and Nawazuddin. The film will be releasing on 20th Septemer.
