Jackie Shroff – 1st February
Jackie Shroff was born in a Gujarati family of Kakubhai and Rita Shroff on1st February 1960. His real name is Jai kishen Shroff. The family was very poor and lived in a chawl in Walkeshwar, Mumbai. I remarkable fact about Jackie Shroff is that before joining Bollywood he was a local goon.
He also did some modelling in few advertisements. He was given his first opportunity in Hindi cinema by Dev Anand in 1983 film, Swami Dada.
After that legendary filmmaker Shubhash Ghai spotted this talented young man and gave him an opportunity in his film Hero which went on to be a blockbuster film. This changed the fate of the local toughie Jai Kishen. Subhash ghai also gave him a nick name of Jackie.
Jackie was popular with his roles in superhit films in 90’s like Ram Lakhan, Parinda, Karma, Khalnayak, etc.. For ‘Parinda‘ Jackie won a filmfare award for best actor.
