No doubt the year 2017 was the worst year for Bollywood and one of the best years for the Southern film industry. From highest grossing film to some of the highly rated movies, Southern cinema gave it all in 2017. One such cult movie is ‘Arjun Reddy’, which was made on a very low budget and emerged as the blockbuster hit. After the raging success in the South, its makers decided to remake the film in Hindi. After having been apparently passed over by Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, the role of Arjun Reddy has finally landed in the lap of Varun Dhawan. As the character of Vijay Deverakonda, the lead of the original AR, was a chained alcoholic and drug addict, the makers and the script demand the same from Varun. And he will have to sport a leaner look for the part.

After ‘Judwaa 2’, it is reported that the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film will see Sajid Nadiadwala collaborate with Dhawan yet again. A source says, “The film is currently being scripted and will be amended to suit Bollywood’s audience. It revolves around a philandering, alcoholic, drug addict, a surgeon who falls in love with an innocent medical student. Dhawan, who is currently busy with YRF’s ‘Sui Dhaaga’, will have to sport a leaner look for the part.” Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who helmed the original, will take charge of the Hindi adaptation as well. The film is expected to go on floors by mid-2018.
