Indeed legendary actor Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu are in a state of shock with the news of veteran film director Yash Chopra. They always considered Yashji as their younger brother. His sudden demise has left them in tears and a sense of emptiness.

Saira Banu said that with Yash Chopra’s sudden demise everyone of the generation of Dilip Kumar has left the world and hence Dilipji is in a state of sadness. We need to pray for him as he is last one of the lot.

She also said that the legendary filmmaker may be gone but will remain in the hearts of the couple. They had spent lot of time together and Yashji used to visit them a lot, especially for the sunset walking and sunset bonding. Dilipji and Yashji had a true bond of friendship. Often when Yashji would visit their place, they would share a soup or meal and had a chat while watching sunset. Such friendship is rare in today’s stars.

The first encounter of Dilip and Yash was at the sets of Naya Daur (1957) when Yashji was assisting his brother B.R. Chopra on the sets. Both Dilipji and Yashji had a common taste of liking food and they talked with each other in Punjabi. Stories of their love for food are legendary in Bollywood. Their egg burji was famous in outdoor shoot and tours and they would often compete with each other and rustle up dozens of eggs.

Recently too the duo had spent a lot of time together. Yashji often made a mention of his nephew Ravi Chopra who is in hospital as he was very worried about his health. Recently when on his birthday when Dilipji and Saira called Yashji for extending wishes, Dilipji asked him about his age. Yashji told him that he is celebrating his 80th birthday to which Dilipji was totally surprised. He thought Yashji was 72 or so. Then he said to Saira with a sigh that how much time has passed by.
