Abhishek Kapoor’s directorial venture ‘Kai Po Che‘ had already created news before its release. The reasons were so many. Not only it was based on the famous novel written by Chetan Bhagat named ‘3 Mistakes of my Life‘, but it was a debut movie of television superstar Sushant Singh Rajput.

 

Everyone knew that Sushant has played a big gamble by quitting his most popular roll on the television show ‘Pavitra Rishta‘. If the movie did not succeed then it would have been heartbreak for him and his career would be in shambles.

 

Still there is good news for Sushant Singh and his entire fan family. ‘Kai Po Che’ has done exceptionally well on the box office in its opening week itself. The film has newcomers like Sushant Singh Rajput and Raj Kumar Yadav in leads. Both are fresh faces but the magic the movie has created has made them superstars overnight!

 

The film has concluded the first week with a superb business at the Indian Box Office. The movie has topped the domestic collection chart.  Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi and Arshad Warsi starrer ‘Zila Ghaziabad’ stood second this week.

 

‘Kai Po Che’ had massive promotions in all media forms. The movie had a massive response at the multiplexes. However in single screen theaters the business was average for the film. Saturday and Sunday saw the huge growth and the film collected Rs 18.10 crores nett approximately at Indian box office by the first weekend.

 

The breakup of the collection was as follows: Friday- Rs 4.50 cr, Saturday – Rs 6.25 cr and Sunday – Rs 7.35 cr. Unlike the prediction that the business will go down in weekdays, the movie has managed to fetch young audience to maintain its strong position in following days. The film revolves around the lives of three best friends who are young and enthusiastic. The storyline is very appealing to the youth and it seems that young generation has helped the movie score high on box office.

 

The movie registered very high occupancy ion Monday and it looked like the movie is released on same day! The weekday collection can be explained as below: Monday – Rs 3.25 cr, Tuesday – Rs 2.95 cr, Wednesday – Rs 2.70 cr and Thrusday – Rs 2.50 cr.

 

On weekdays the movie successfully earned Rs 11.4 Crs bringing the total business to Rs 29.50 cr nett.

 

The big cine pundits and movie critics have appreciated the movie and their positive reviews are helping the movie to sustain till another week. No doubt the movie Kai Po Che has proved to be very lucky for everyone including Sushat Singh!
