Akshay Kumar and the team of ‘Pad Man’ have made a slight change in the releasing date of the film. Earlier scheduled to release on Republic Day i.e. on 26th January, R Balki’s helmed ‘Pad Man’ will now be releasing a day prior, i.e. on 25th January 2018. The actual reason behind this decision is not known, but this will definitely turn beneficial in many ways. Preponing the film’s release by a day is not only averting its clash with Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Aiyaary’, but the film will also get an extended weekend of 4 days. Khiladi Kumar shared the news on Twitter, captioning, “Superhero ke saath Super Republic week. #PadMan releasing on 25th January, 2018!”

‘Pad Man’ is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who made low-cost sanitary napkins for the rural village. And when Akshay Kumar was recently asked at an event if sanitary napkins should be levied from GST, he said, “Why just cut down on GST? I think women should have free access to sanitary napkins. This is their basic necessity. It is about menstrual hygiene and not luxury. It is unfortunate and I am ashamed to say that 82 percent women in this country have no access to sanitary pads and they are mistreated during those five days of their menstruation period. This is unfortunate.”
Apart from Akshay, the film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles.
